The spark for this painting is when an art competition wanted a painting about a dream. I thought hard about dreams. They have completely real things, but something is always crazy from the perspective of the normal world. The first idea was a normal living room on a lawn and the second was that the dreamer was nervous about their birthday. A party was coming. Colors are important in dreams. The painting has TV screens and a cake from which butterflies emerge, maybe other things too. The clouds in the sky resemble the objects below and the cake. There is tension in the air.
