I presented my technological innovations to Marimekko's head designer, but she saw art in them. She encouraged me to hold an art exhibition and regretted that they didn't have an artist position available at the time. I was stunned. I followed the path she pointed out, and there have been several exhibitions since. What has driven me forward is the feedback I've received about my art, both now and back in my school days. I want to exhibit my work for people's enjoyment.
Try more important spark, where the new creation began. Sometimes the execution takes a long time, but not always. The Idea develops little by little. Colors are important to me.
Colors fascinate
Colors and their compositions have always been important to me. As a child, I tied beautiful flower bouquets for sale. Now I have discovered beautiful earthy tones in plant-based dyes.

We filmed in Sastamala, where I’m originally from. There is nature there—forests and water. It was also filmed in Helsinki. Musicians Riitta and Antsu, inspired by the paintings, perform songs based on them.
The art of meaning in life
The most meaningful thing in art is creating something different, new, and colorful. I'm curious to see something different. I have traveled to 47 countries. Experiencing cultural differences is enriching. Traveling feeds creativity and generates ideas and inventions. When traveling, you cannot stay in your comfort zone – it requires being alert and challenges your thinking. In my written texts, I have moved forward in time as much as 50 years, and that too is fascinating. I have written four books, and a fifth is on its way. I am a member of the Helsinki Art Association, Espoo Art, and the Finnish Artists' Association.

I want to make my paintings intriguing so that the viewer becomes interested in my work again and again, discovering something new each time. Playfulness, joy, tranquility, nature, togetherness – these are important states of mind for me. I create my paintings from Sisusavi® compound, which I've developed from natural materials. With a PhD in Chemistry and a Licentiate degree in Technology, I have deep knowledge of materials and pigments, which opens up many possibilities for my art. Sisusavi compound works with all types of colorants, including pigments and plant-based dyes. It creates a living surface on the painting, and the colors appear brilliantly vibrant.
